Quick trip home and Weipa area QLD
August 2019
Continuing on our Lap of Australia on Paradise – I had a few days back home to see my family, puppies and to celebrate my mum's birthday. It's great to travel, but there's no place like home.
The Nautilus shells made it safely home, thank goodness.
Back in Weipa, the replacement G-zero arrived, and it was successfully rigged onto Paradise. John also replaced the continuous furling line for the boom, which is a Dyneema core. This was always going to be tricky, but he got it done, and it was a team effort.
With the mainsail and G-zero all back in action and working correctly, Paradise was ready for the next leg of the trip – crossing the Gulf of Carpentaria.
One final sundowner in QLD at Boyd Point, we caught with Brett and Dina again, and Brett passed on some tips on how to quickly fillet a mackerel – he should know, he gets through a ton a week.
The next post will be crossing the Gulf of Carpentaria to Groote Eylandt, NT.
