Raising the Spinnaker for the first time

14 May 2019

The tail wind made it a perfect day to raise the spinnaker, this is the first time that we have raised it other than during commision of the sail back in Sydney. It's an effort to raise and lower the snuffer and it's not a one person job.

It's great to turn the engines off and to be pulled along just by the wind and we got to our destination much faster than motoring.

The wind increased and the sail had to come down and at the same time the rope flicked off the winch and John experienced his first rope burn, it's like picking up a hot dish from an oven. John had to keep his hand in ice for rest of day and night to stop the pain.
